Definition of Stress
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language defines stress as “A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression.”
Then there is the more modern getting “Stressed out.” This usually means we have too much to do in too little time, or it can mean we have the chance to improve our time management skills.
Knowing that the definition of stress can cause many bodily problems it is important to know
ways to relieve stress.
